Population & Health Data Science | Nursing & Midwifery Workforce | Data Stewardship
I am a Data Analyst at Research Data Scotland (RDS) and a Doctoral Researcher at the School of Health and Social Care, Edinburgh Napier University. My work and research bring together population and health data science, nursing and midwifery workforce research, and data stewardship.
I am undertaking a PhD in Health and Social Care. My project, Using Nationally Representative Data to Understand the Nursing and Midwifery Professions in the United Kingdom, uses linked administrative and population data to inform workforce planning and policy. Within this research, I have a particular interest in internationally trained professionals and their contribution to the UK health workforce.
At RDS, my work spans data preparation, metadata, synthetic data, reproducible analytical pipelines within Trusted Research Environments (TREs) and data stewardship. I help make complex administrative and health-related datasets easier to understand and use for research. Read more about my background in my five-minute profile interview with RDS.
I also lead FRAME-DS: Framework for Recognising Applied Data Stewardship Within TRE Workforces - A Collaborative, Cross-Organisation Pilot, a project funded through CaSDaR Network+ (Careers and Skills for Data-driven Research) to develop a framework and toolkit for recognising and supporting applied data stewardship within TRE workforces.
